Made from 95% recycled materials, the Meeting Place Aboriginal design recycled mat is all about people coming together to talk. The innovative recycled plastic used to create the mat is easy to clean, comfortable to sit on and UV treated to resist colour fading. It can be used for reading, story times and as a play mat in the home corner or for block play. An ideal addition to early education centres, as the design lends itself to help children choose a symbol to sit on, facing the centre. Designed by respected Australian Indigenous artist from the Anmatyerre, Central Desert region, Dean Jakamara Briscoe. Dean is a professional artist and owner of Anmatyerre Arts and Crafts. In Meeting Place, he depicts people sitting around a central campfire, gathering to discuss the days business. The mat has the same design on both sides but the colours are reversible. Mat colours may differ slightly from the images shown due to the different inks used in individual print runs. Designed in Australia, manufactured in India or China. These mats are suitable for indoor and outdoor use, but extensive exposure to sun or rain will lead to fading and deterioration over time.

These double-sided mats are designed using Indigenous symbols, the symbols are used as a form of communication, a way to tell a story, instruction or direction. The versatility, light weight durability of the recycled polypropylene play mats are only enhanced by how easy they are to keep clean. Simply vacuum up the spills, give the mat a quick wash with soapy water, then toss over the line to dry. Great for use outdoors, however do not leave in direct sunlight or rain full time due to UV exposure. Store clean and dry. All Aboriginal Design Recycled Mats have been created by Indigenous Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander artists under the guidelines of the Indigenous Art Code that promotes authentic, fair and ethical trade in artwork & allows for transparent processes around the production and sale of artwork.
